# Docent

> Docent is an EU-hosted knowledge platform for European teams. It answers questions from an organisation's own documents with citations, keeps replaced versions out of answers, respects the access rights set in the systems it reads, and turns the same documents into onboarding paths.

Docent reads documents read-only from SharePoint, OneDrive, Confluence Cloud, Nextcloud, Google Drive, Notion and Slack, or from direct upload (PDF, Office and OpenDocument). The original files stay in those systems; Docent keeps extracted text, a search index and a link back to cite each document. Where SharePoint or Confluence restrict a file, the restriction applies to answers too, including for administrators. Answers cite the passages they come from, link to the original document, and say "I don't know" when the documents do not support an answer.

AI tools such as Claude, Open WebUI and Le Chat can query a Docent knowledge base through its MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. Each key carries one person's access and is read-only.

Data is stored at Hetzner in Helsinki, Finland. Answers are generated by Google Vertex AI in EU regions, or by Mistral in France when an organisation chooses its EU provider option. Search indexing uses Google embedding models in EU regions. Personal data is anonymised before any AI call.

Pricing (excluding VAT): Free €0 (1 user, 50 MB), Startup €8 per user per month (up to 9 users, 10 GB), Business €15 per user per month (up to 25 users, 50 GB), Enterprise custom (up to 500 users, 1 TB).

Credentials: EU AI Pact signatory; signatory of the EU Code of Practice on transparency of AI-generated content; CSA STAR Level 1; NCSC Basisscan Cyberweerbaarheid 5/5; member of the Google for Startups Cloud Program. ISO 27001 is not yet held.
